Actor Hrithik Roshan and wife Suzanne Khan have come forward to lend their support for AIDS awareness campaign.
The couple attended the 26th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial here yesterday. The event, which was organised by Parmeshwar Godrej’s Heroes Project and the Mumbai District AIDS Control Society, echoed the slogan “Together we are the solution”.
Hrithik took the pledge “I will” to show his solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS. “We are not doing this only for HIV infected people. We are doing this for you and me. AIDS is not something that happening to other people but it is happening to us,” said Hrithik.
The actor credited his wife Suzanne for giving him the “impetus” to be a part of the cause. “I think it is important for prominent people to do something for human value,” Suzanne said.
“We are here to protect our children and our people. If something from our side can make a difference, we both would like to speak about it,” she added.
Also present at the event were actor-director Farhan Akhtar, Nandita Das, director-general of the National AIDS Control Organisation, Dr Sujata Rao and A V Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla.
