Islamabad, July 6 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is yet to accept the resignations of Sherry Rehman and Raza Rabbani from the federal cabinet.
Rehman was Minister for Information and Broadcasting while Rabbani was the Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination.
Both resigned a few months ago after some sections in the PPP criticised their position on the demand for the reinstatement of deposed superior court judges.
The cabinet division is yet to issue a notification on the resignations, the Dawn reports.
Cabinet Secretary Zafar Mehmood said both ministers had submitted their resignations, which had not been accepted by the prime minister.
They have stopped going to their offices, but the Prime Minister may assign them portfolios in an expected cabinet reshuffle.
At the time of her resignation, Rehman was holding additional charge of Women’s Development.
According to sources, if President Asif Zardari agrees, she may be asked to continue as Minister for Women Development.
They said attempts were also being made to persuade Senator Rabbani to take the post of Law Minister.
The central executive committee of the party is likely to take a decision in this regard on Monday.
Rabbani resigned as minister and also as leader of the house in the Senate when Naek was named the party’s candidate for the chairman’s post. (ANI)
