Saurav Ganguly eyes innings as administrator

Mumbai/Kolkata, July 9 (ANI): Former India captain Saurav Ganguly has said that he would look forward to an administrative stint in his home state of West Bengal.

Ganguly, who retired last year, said he was ready to be a part of the Bengal cricket set up.”I want to be a part of cricket. I think Bengal has a lot of potential which needs to be looked after. So, hopefully, I will be a part of it,” he said.

Reports said Ganguly could contest the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) elections later this month.

Ganguly is already a member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) technical committee.

Meanwhile, Ganguly’s fans in Kolkata celebrated his birthday on Wednesday.Fans, including a large number of school children, held placards, banners and balloons as they joined chorus.

“We are celebrating Ganguly’s glorious 37th birthday. We are proud of Ganguly as an expert cricketer, but also his role as an expert commentator,” said Bijay Mukherjee, a fan.

The 37-year-old, who played 113 tests and 311 one-day internationals, has led India to 21 Test wins. (ANI)
