London, June 2 (ANI): Brazilian football star Robinho has dismissed suggestions he is anxious to quit the Premier League and return to his native Brazil.
Marcelo Teixeira, the president of Santos, Robinho’s first club, claimed at the weekend that Britain’s most expensive footballer was unhappy with life at Manchester City and hankered after a return to South America.
Robinho, who finished as City’s top scorer with 15 goals following his 32.5million pounds from Real Madrid, reaffirmed his commitment to Mark Hughes’ attempt to turn the club into a major Premier League and European force.
The Daily Express quoted him as saying: “I am very happy at City. Santos are the team of my heart and one day I want to go back there, but not now. I am happy with the affection shown by the fans in the final match of the season against Bolton.” (ANI)
