Sydney, May 21 (ANI): Australia captain Ricky Ponting has said that he wants nothing more than to be leader of an Ashes winning team in England.
With the series to be held between July 8 and August 24, Ponting recalling the 2005 series loss, said: “In 2005, we got off to a great start and then things slipped away from us from there. A lot of us have been there, and learned from our mistakes. And we’re obviously keen to rectify that.”
“There’s one thing on my cricketing resume that hasn’t been achieved yet, and that’s being captain of a winning Ashes team in England,” Ponting said at the announcement of the squad he will lead to Britain.
“That’s something very dear to my heart, and something I’ll certainly be speaking to the players about when we arrive – making sure we get over that hurdle, as well.” (ANI)
