Islamabad, May 13 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not consult the government before sending a legal notice to the International Cricket Council (ICC) challenging its decision to shift 2011 World Cup games from Pakistan.
Pakistan Sports Minister Pir Aftab Shah Jillani said serving a legal notice to the ICC was purely PCB’s decision, and the government was not involved in it, as the board did not inform the ministry prior to taking such an ‘important’ decision.
“I would not comment on the legality of this issue but they should have sought our opinion before taking this big step,” Jillani said.
“Even if the PCB thinks that this step was a must, they should have taken it when the decision of shifting World Cup matches was announced,” he added.
Jillani criticized the PCB for its laid back attitude on the issue, and held it responsible for losing out the opportunity to host World Cup games.
“The board should have done their complete homework before attending that crucial ICC meeting,” The Daily Times quoted Jillani, as saying. (ANI)
