Man City boss urges Terry to ‘reignite’ himself with move from Chelsea to his club

London, July 15 (ANI): Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has urged star player John Terry to turn leave Chelsea and lead his club’s revolution.

“We would like to think we could offer John Terry a different challenge,” The Sun quoted Hughes, as saying.

Hughes, fresh from signing 26.5 million pound Carlos Tevez, spoke on for the first time about his 30 million pound bid to land the England captain.

He believes it is time the Blues stalwart ‘reignited” himself with a move. “From my own experience, when you have been with a club a long time you maybe get to a point when you need a new challenge, when you think a change of scenery would just reignite certain things within you.”

The Welshman feels that Terry’s silence on the subject means he is thinking seriously about a switch to Eastlands and not because of a wage of up to 300,000 pounds a week.

“It is not a question of money. It is about a different challenge, a different stage in his life and career. Maybe that is why there hasn’t been a response, because John is seriously thinking in those terms,” Hughes said.

“We made an offer to Chelsea and, if the opportunity presents itself to bring a player of his calibre to the club, we will do our utmost to bring that about. Obviously, we need conversations with Chelsea in that regard,” he added.

Hughes first recognised Terry’s ability when he played for Chelsea himself between 1995 and 1998. “He is a great player and an outstanding captain.” (ANI)
