Once upon a time a great businessman had lost all his fortunes and had over nightly become a classic example of “from-riches-to-rags” story. From everywhere in the vicinity, sad shaking of head and murmuring of sympathies could be heard. Surprisingly, for a man struck with so much misfortune, the businessman looked quite cheerful. Individuals, who couldn’t curb their curiosity, finally had to ask him the reason. The man gave a smile which comes only after years of wisdom, and replied, “My dear! What I have lost is my money, I’ve earned it before and I can earn it again. What I possess is Faith, which is far valuable than all the riches of the world put together”.
If you believe in God, you believe in something you haven’t seen, touched, smelled; and yet you believe that power to drive the entire cosmic system- that’s faith! Even if you’re agnostic or an atheist, you cannot underestimate the power of faith. Remember the time when you were a little kid, tiny and scrawny, a bit clumsy- struggling to learn to ride a bike without falling after a few blocks? You could overcome the hurdles because of the reassuring feeling of your dad holding you when you fall. Every night, people sleep peacefully because they have an unspoken talisman- tomorrow is going to be much better than today- a faith that everything’s going to be alright.
In this ugly world, full of competition and negativity, there are two magical words which make it all happen – love which is the most powerful feeling; and faith- which keeps you hopeful about finding that true love. The mighty human heart aims for the loftiest of peaks, with hardships and downfalls in the way almost inevitable. The driving force, which inspires you to rise again from your ashes, gather your strength and continue again on the journey to greatness- is faith.
When I read the newspaper every morning, I see it swarming with news of crimes and accidents which often makes me wonder whether the world is still a good place to live, after all. But then I see kindness, love, inspiration, sacrifices, sympathy around me, and I shrug all my doubts away. And I know it’s not just me. After all, the entire world rests on the belief that there’s a happy ending to every story, it’s just a matter of time that we find it.
