The Mystery called “Woman”

Women – The most beautiful & mysterious creatures on this planet. Ever since the beginning of time, men have always been trying to impress women. Anthropologists say that this is due to the primal need to mate & reproduce. But women are elusive beings. They can’t just be with anyone. To win over a woman is one of the most uphill tasks that straight men have ever had to contend with. Men just can’t stop noticing women, no matter how important their task at hand is. Even the most decent, most career oriented, most focused guy will stop doing whatever he is doing the moment the woman who matches his frequency enters his view. Not all men are always attracted to the same woman. Each man has his own taste. How exactly the sub conscious part of the brain analyses that a particular desirable woman has arrived registers in a man’s brain is not something easily understood. But the reaction men feel is the same. You would have too – when you saw “her”

Her very presence shocks you into silence. She moves like a creature from another world. Her eyes are always radiant – full of promise. Her smile – dazzles up even the dullest day. Her mere presence near the printer at work can make you fumble like a blithering idiot with no sense of balance. She makes even the quarterly board meetings appear like sizzling dates. Your body reacts in the most abnormal fashion in her presence. Your throat goes dry, your muscles cramp, and you suddenly become extremely aware of your physical flaws. You start wondering about things you never paid two hoots of attention to – like whether you had remembered to shave, or if your socks match. Every word she says feels like water gushing out of a stream – fresh, lively and sweet. Some of your male friends realise that you are in trouble – and warn you. But they have no idea of what you feel inside your head. The only thing you want is to know her better, to become an important part of her life.

Yet, when you get closer to these magical beings, they change drastically. You realise that there is more to them than meets the eye. She will laugh at the silliest jokes one moment – making you feel quite the dude. Next moment, she freezes you with a cold stare that could bring ice to the Sahara. She can be charming and graceful one moment – and totally reckless and rude the next. Her silences are worse than her wild moods – she sometimes stares into the distance for hours without saying a word. She can be warm and loving – and also completely ruthless. She will cry when you accidently step over a snail – but can fly into murderous rages too. She will spend hours bargaining with the autowala or bhajiwala for a measly buck or two. But she’ll gladly throw away ridiculous amounts of money over designer wear, shoes, or jewellery.

Men can never understand women or why they behave the way they do. Sometimes, it’s annoying – aggravating even. She will not speak a word to you when you sit down with her with a glass of her favourite wine. But the minute you switch on the TV to watch the latest Manchester United game, she will slide over and complain that you never talk to her. She will give you hell if you arrive late on a date, but will spend hours over her nails, eyelids, eyelashes, and all sorts of lotions and make you extremely late for your office party. But she reminds you with her flawless looks that after all – it is for you. And when she shops – you curse the day this infernal species was created. But when it’s finally done, she’ll purr away like a happy kitten you can’t help but adore. When you argue with her, she will throw all logic aside and will resort to any unfair means – even accusations of forgotten dates and worse still – tears – to win. Yet, when you are feeling ill or lonely, she will be the only one who will succeed in comforting you, and making you feel better.

Love them or hate them  –  you can’t live without them. Maybe if men just understood and accepted this fact – they would be much happier being in relationships. Women have always, and will always be – a mystery. But some mysteries – don’t need unveiling. Life is just better that way!

I think that one of the biggest comforts in life is being able to curl up on the couch with a great, exciting new book after a day’s work. I also enjoy all kinds of music, and I am a complete movie buff. I realise that there are grey areas in most issues, but I do call a spade a spade, when it’s glaringly obvious. I believe in God, but I’m not religious. I feel that it’s important to focus on the purpose rather than the medium used to achieve the purpose.
