Join the ‘Earth Hour’- Saturday, March 28, 2009 8.30 PM – 9.30 PM

The ‘Earth Hour’ was initiated by World Wide Fund for nature (WWF) just two years ago in Sydney, as a show of solidarity against Climate Change, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights. Just for one hour. The movement has today spread to more than 80 countries.

Led by the WWF, more than 50 million people in 370 cities around the world took part in Earth Hour last year. The lights went out at Sydney’s Opera House, Rome’s Colosseum, the Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge. Even the Google homepage went dark for the day.

This year the ‘Earth Hour’ is being observed on March 28, 2009 between 8.30 PM- 9.30 PM. Close to a billion people from 825 cities across the world would join this fight and pledge to bring about a change! Leading corporates across the world would also be supporting the cause. too, has pledged its support to the world’s largest global climate change event.

This one hour of darkness would help bring to light one of our generation’s largest challenges “Climate Change”.

Help bring about the change. Join the ‘Earth Hour’ by switching off all lights this Saturday 8.30 PM – 9.30 PM. Just for one hour.

  1. will the power plants also be using less fuel because of this symbolic gesture or is it just a feel good activity?

perhaps the organizers should get the same committment from all these participants to plant a tree today which would go much farther along the path to help the environment.

or perhaps we should advertise the fact that the average global temperature has been dropping for the past 6 years …. or should we ignore this even though the global scientists are publishing this data and graphs
